Take FLIGHT with AVi at Atlantic Aviation ILG

We are Cleared for Takeoff"

We’re thrilled to announce our next big event will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025—and for the first time ever, we’re bringing the excitement to Delaware!


Thanks to the generous support of Atlantic Aviation, Wilmington Airport (ILG), and the ILG leadership team, this event promises to be a first-class experience for youth, families, and industry professionals alike.


From 11am-4pm, we have a fun-filled program and schedule of activities set for our attendees.


🌟 What’s New in 2025


While we continue to celebrate the spirit of Girls in Aviation Day (GIAD), this year’s event is open to all youth passionate about STEAM and aviation—regardless of gender.


This year’s experience includes:


  • Interactive indoor exhibits focused on STEAM and aviation
  • Industry-led activity stations, including:
    • Sectional Chart Scavenger Hunt
    • Paper Airplane Competition
    • Photo Experience
    • “Make Your Mark” Community Art Installation
  • Static displays of aircraft, vehicles, and equipment demos
  • Inspiring speakers and influencers
  • Catered lunch for all attendees
  • All attendees will receive a swag bag upon arrival

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Expected Attendance: 1,300+ youth, families, and industry leaders

To keep this event free and accessible to all, we're working toward a fundraising goal of $28,750. Every dollar raised helps cover event costs, supports hands-on outreach, and funds scholarships—opening doors for the next generation of aviators, engineers, and explorers.

Check-in opens at 10:30 a.m. and closes promptly at 11:45 a.m. so everyone can be present for the opening ceremony and keynote speaker. Exhibits remain closed until after the ceremony, and attendees will be seated with an activity during this time.


No—our check-in area will not be staffed after 11:45 a.m. Once the opening ceremony begins, the entrance will close. To enjoy the full day, please plan to arrive before 11:45.


The program runs from 11:00 a.m. to about 4:00 p.m. Attendees may leave earlier if needed or stay until the end to watch aircraft and helicopters start up, taxi, and take off.


Please have your ticket downloaded or your QR code ready at entry. This ensures a smooth check-in and allows youth attendees to receive their special gifts and goodies.


No ID is required. The event is limited to ages 8–17 so participants can fully engage with the STEAM/aviation activities presented.


For security reasons and in compliance with airport regulations, only registered attendees will be permitted entry. Anyone not registered will be turned away.


Atlantic Aviation, Wilmington Airport (ILG). Parking details, entry instructions, and accessibility notices will be shared with registered attendees prior to the event.


Parking information will be emailed to all registered attendees before the event.


You may bring your own cooler if you have dietary restrictions. For security, no firearms, weapons, or similar items are allowed. Keep in mind that the event is on airport property, and bags may be checked.


Yes—catered lunch, snacks, and drinks will be provided. If you have dietary restrictions, please plan to bring your own food.


The event takes place on airport property, inside a hangar and on a closed tarmac. Wear comfortable, casual clothing and closed-toe shoes for safety. Sweatpants or jogging clothes are not recommended.


Yes—photographers and videographers will capture the excitement and activities. A photo link and recap video will be shared after the event. Attendees are welcome to share these photos/videos, but all participants must complete a photo/video release form before or at entry.


No—changes cannot be made directly. Please email takeflight@aviationinfluence.org if adjustments are needed.


Updates—including weather changes and ADA accessibility details—will be emailed to registered attendees in advance.
